After viewing the video of the Chicago Police Officer get beaten a lot of questions came too thought. The video is very sad seeing the officer getting thrown to the ground, and then having to hear the superintendant of the police speak about how she chose to not shoot him because of her family, and the department. I think this is officer took one for the team because if in fact she did shoot him whether it was justified or not she would probably wind up losing her job, and her family and the department would be scrutinized. I wonder what would have happened if she did shoot him, or what would happen if she was killed? Thankfully, the worst outcome in this situation were injuries sustained from trauma and no one was killed. I wonder why the taser was ineffective on the man? I know being on drugs plays a large role in the electricity impact on your body especially the one he was on, but how was it that hard for officers to use non-lethal force to subdue him? I feel bad for the officer, but its sad to say in this day and age with all the recent shootings she made the right choice by taking one for her family and the department and sparing this mans life.

  1. This is concrete evidence on how hard it is to be a police officer nowadays. Every move you make is now under a microscope. It is unfortunate this police officer had to second guess her ways on how to control a suspect.

  3. Drugs are a major reason why they were unable to detain him using non lethal force. Speaking from experience at my job it took 3 police officers and 2 security guards to successfully restrain 1 male who was under the influence of an unknown substance. More importantly it is sad to see a police officer unwilling to protect herself in fear of what others would think of her actions and how the media would scrutinize her decision.

  5. I agree with Didier that it is sad to see a police officer fail to do her sworn job to protect her reputation in the media. She could have easily been killed or seriously injured but chose not to shoot to avoid being scrutinized by BLM, which I think was not the best decision on her part
