Snapshot of what it is like to be in a police pursuit. I rode along with the Kane County Sheriff Department, and went on the third watch or midnight shift. I rode along with a very cool deputy who explained to me how county opperates and the difference between municipal police and county police. One difference is the amount of back up you have. In a town you have access to back up more easily but working in a county you soley rely on yourself most of the time or have to have friends in other departments so you need to be extra good at talking to de-escalate a situation. The night was fairly slow other than a few traffic stops for a friday night however, it got interesting towards the end of the night when an exciting pursuit broke out and we got involved.
